What PNG is best at

PNG stores every pixel exactly and supports transparency, which makes it the usual choice for screenshots, logos, diagrams and anything with text. The same strength makes large photographic PNGs far heavier than they need to be.

Choose JPG to get the smallest files from photographic images, knowing transparent areas turn white. Choose WebP to shrink the file and keep transparency, which suits logos and web graphics.

Keep your original

Both destinations use lossy compression at 92% quality, and the change cannot be reversed. If the PNG is a master file or a design source, store it somewhere safe and use the converted copy only for sharing or publishing.
